Be part of an exciting, growing company. SPECS is seeking a mid-level Bridge Engineer to perform preliminary and final design for bridges, retaining walls, and drainage-related structures.
The qualified candidate will be able to:
- Serve as project engineer, design engineer or checking engineer as assigned
- Review and apply the recommendations of engineering technical reports and design conditions
- Assist with structure type selection
- Perform structural analyses, calculations and design
- Use structural analysis programs and bridge design software
- Oversee plan production and review drawings
- Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and QA/QC standards as well as closely follow industry design standards
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop cost estimates for project budgeting and evaluation of alternatives
- Develop construction specifications and/or standard special provisions
- Assist with monitoring design budgets and create and deliver accurate schedules
- Perform construction phase services including shop drawing reviews and responding to contractor requests for information
- Possess a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, flexible and able to multi-task with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Work successfully in a group, generate ideas, and estimate time to completion for tasks
Basic Qualifications:
- 2-10 years of experience in the analysis and design of all types of bridges including steel, concrete, precast and post-tensioned bridges
- Experienced in analysis and design techniques, preparation of plans/details/exhibits, code requirements and guidelines
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD with CA Amendments and ADA codes are preferred
- Proficient in Word, Excel, structural analysis software, and AutoCAD
- CANDE / Bentley LEAP / CSI Bridge / CTAbut / L-Pile knowledge beneficial
- Detail-oriented with an ability to assemble calculations, plans, and specifications meeting client expectations
- EIT Certificate is required at a minimum.
- Familiarity with seismic analysis and design of bridges, familiarity with Caltrans consultant delivery process preferred
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
