Affirmed Housing and the City of San Diego are collaborating to build an affordable housing and mixed use development in the Chollas View neighborhood of San Diego. A neighborhood park weaves through this community of 100+ homes and is now connected by a pedestrian truss bridge crossing an arroyo. SPECS worked with Studio E Architects on the design and supplied the bridge to HA Builders, the general contractor managing construction of the development, in concert with JP&K Construction Management Inc.
The bridge was delivered the morning of June 4, 2021. JP&K Construction blocked off one lane of traffic during installation to safely offload the prefabricated steel truss from the truck and swing it into place onto the prepared cast-in-place concrete abutments. The bridge was set in a single piece, making the installation quick and minimizing disruption on this busy jobsite.
Jennifer Mayfield, Project Manager for Studio E Architects, was on site for the bridge installation and declared that “It fit like a glove, I was so impressed! Great work Jeff + Team!”
